‘Week of Welcomes Festival’
Friday August 3rd to Friday August 10th 2012.
Our first Festival will take place from Friday August 3rd to Friday August 10th 2012. A great programme of activities is set including, a meet & greet evening, guided tours of Listowel Town and the neighbouring North Kerry countryside, traditional entertainment, genealogy & history talks, hurling & football games, a bog walk including an opportunity to cut turf by hand (Sleán), a family day to trace your relatives and ancestors and plenty of free time. The total cost of all these activities is €199, which includes all transport as well as being collected and dropped back to Shannon or Kerry Airport. Places are limited so early booking is advisable. Click on 'Read More' to find out more about our Week of Welcomes.
North Kerry Reaching Out is a voluntary community project, which was established to collect and preserve the Genealogy, Culture and Heritage of North Kerry. We are collecting old photographs, documents, oral histories, stories, family histories etc. all of which will be made freely available through our web site www.northkerryreachingout.
We are available and would be only too delighted to help people find their roots in North Kerry. Some more of our members are currently undertaking a genealogy and heritage course and on completion we will be able to expand this service. Through North Kerry Reaching Out we hope to link Kerry people worldwide. Anyone who has roots in other parts of County Kerry can also contact us and we will give them guidance whenever possible.
The areas included in the North Kerry Reaching Out project are, Asdee, Abbeydorney, Ballybunion, Ballyduff, Ballylongford, Duagh, Finuge, Knockanure, Listowel, Lisselton, Lixnaw, Lyreacrompane , Moyvane and Tarbert.
